New Document Scanner for Microsoft Pix

The latest Microsoft Pix update features a new tool that enables you to capture better photos of whiteboards, business cards, and other documents. It is very similar to the powerful image correction and enhancement algorithms that are found in the Microsoft Office Lens applications.

Microsoft Pix will now automatically detect whiteboards, documents and business cards and intelligently adjust the camera settings for the content. Once captured, Microsoft Pix uses AI and machine learning to improve the image by cropping the edges, boosting tone & color, sharpening focus and adjusting the angle to render the image in a straight-on perspective.

When photographing a whiteboard, document, or art work, Microsoft Pix will identify the object and place a blue framing square around it in the viewfinder. After the photo is captured, two separate images are produced; one from the original perspective, and a second photo that has been automatically enhanced, cropped and corrected to the proper perspective.

This will be especially helpful for recording whiteboard content, creating photo archives of important documents, and maintaining a digital record of business contacts.
